About this concept

Expressing sensations, emotions, and needs using dative subject (کو) + noun + لگنا: مجھے بھوک لگی ہے (I'm hungry), مجھے ڈر لگتا ہے (I feel afraid). The experiencer is marked with کو, not the subject position.

Examples

مجھے بھوک لگی ہے۔I'm hungry. (lit: to-me hunger has struck)

اسے ٹھنڈ لگ رہی ہے۔He/She feels cold.

بچوں کو نیند آ رہی ہے۔The children are feeling sleepy.

مجھے اچھا لگتا ہے۔I like it. (lit: to-me good strikes)
