About this concept

Urdu has two levels of causative: first causative (direct cause: کھلانا khilānā, to feed) and second causative (indirect cause: کھلوانا khilvānā, to have someone fed). Formed by vowel changes and suffix additions.

In Settemila Lingue, this concept generates a practice deck of ~40 cards at level B1.

Examples

ماں نے بچے کو کھلایا۔Mother fed the child. (first causative)

اس نے نوکر سے کام کروایا۔He/She had the servant do the work. (second causative)

استاد نے بچوں کو پڑھایا۔The teacher taught the children.

میں نے کپڑے دھلوائے۔I had the clothes washed. (second causative)
