About this concept

Basque subjunctive uses special auxiliary forms for wishes, doubts, and hypotheticals. '-n' suffix on auxiliaries marks subjunctive: dadin (that he/she be), dezan (that he/she do it).

Examples

Nahi dut etorri dadin.I want him/her to come.

Eska iezaiozu egin dezan.Ask him/her to do it.

Zer gerta ere, prest egongo naiz.Whatever happens, I will be ready.

Ojalá egia izan dadila.May it be true.
